Moving through the challenges of studentlife

This video will show some of the challenges of student life through the eyes of 6 students. Frid, Guro, Exelle, Kristian, Astrid and Godriver share their journey facing pressure, expectations and the culture of “Generation Performance”, loneliness, overeating, OCD, Racism, sexuality, identity and life on the spectrum. Their stories are combined with the insight from student counselor Mari from SiO. The transition into higher studies is among the large transitions many of us go through. Many move out from home, to another city or country without your deeper social relations coming along. Therefore knowing how to face, stand in and support others through this transition is important to make sure that you or the students in your life are extra aware during this period. The Human Aspect and SiO have interviewed students about their life's biggest challenge and how they got through it during their studies. Storytelling enables us to learn from each other, and it contributes to understanding and support through increased perspective and knowledge. The collaboration and this short documentary is an initiative by students, with students, for students.

We all face emotions and situations where we just want to escape and not feel. At least for a while, we can recharge before we return to our lives and try to cope. This is where addiction can get a hold of us, and for many it creeps up on us. Learn from people that have broken out of different types of addiction, and hear insights from Consultant Clinical Psychologist Anne Crawford-Docherty. Together they take you through the different aspects of addiction, sharing experiences from their own lives when their addiction controlled them. Hear why many of us use different substances to escape our emotions or challenges in life through their real experiences. See what moments made them re-evaluate if the positives of their escape outweighed the costs of their addiction. Anne shares the model called “the stages of change”, and the different people share how they managed to break out of their addiction, to create the new lives they wanted. Hear what they learned from the whole process and what they wish they knew when they still felt the need to escape life. This is a good introduction that can help you take steps to overcome your addiction or how to support another person on their recovery journey.
