Understand suicide through people who have lived through it

Life is challenging and sometimes challenges feel too heavy to carry, especially if we feel we are carrying them alone. Suicide is a highly stigmatised topic and many of us struggle to even use the word. It seems more tempting to give up when struggling, and especially if any form of positive change feels hopelessly far away. In this video, you’ll meet several people from all over the world who came close to giving up, and some who lost loved one's to suicide. See and hear how they managed to hold on, make space for their grief and find ways to cope with their challenges related to suicide. Their lived experiences are combined with insights from Consultant Clinical Psychologist Anne Crawford-Docherty. This video provides you with a good introduction into the topic of suicide. We advise you to watch the whole short documentary.

We all face emotions and situations where we just want to escape and not feel. At least for a while, we can recharge before we return to our lives and try to cope. This is where addiction can get a hold of us, and for many it creeps up on us. Learn from people that have broken out of different types of addiction, and hear insights from Consultant Clinical Psychologist Anne Crawford-Docherty. Together they take you through the different aspects of addiction, sharing experiences from their own lives when their addiction controlled them. Hear why many of us use different substances to escape our emotions or challenges in life through their real experiences. See what moments made them re-evaluate if the positives of their escape outweighed the costs of their addiction. Anne shares the model called “the stages of change”, and the different people share how they managed to break out of their addiction, to create the new lives they wanted. Hear what they learned from the whole process and what they wish they knew when they still felt the need to escape life. This is a good introduction that can help you take steps to overcome your addiction or how to support another person on their recovery journey.
